We sailed from Amorgos to Levitha where we stayed a quiet and peaceful night on a buoy.

Early the next morning we left for Nisyros where we moored up in the little port of Pali in front of our favourite restaurant Aphrodite. After 2 nights of delicious food we left early for Symi.

We stayed 2 nights in Symi where we saw Roman Abramovich’s yacht Eclipse and met Tony & Regina on Lady Coppelia.

A big storm was brewing and so we continued on to Rhodos where we spent one last night on anchor. Before lifting out Kiryakos, the excellent Rhodos sailmaker (tel 0030 694 723 0900) came and helped Per take down the sails.

And so, after a trip of 2250 nautical miles, our season on Sybaris has ended. See you next year!

The temperatures have gone up again and it seemed a perfect day to rent a car and discover more of the island. We first drove to the Chora, the small capital almost in the middle of the island. It was very nice to walk around the little streets. We stopped for coffee and the smells coming from the kitchen was so good we later returned for lunch: goat with potatoes from the oven.

In between coffee and lunch we drove to the Monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa. I climbed the steps with Per and played with the many friendly cats and kittens while Per visited the inside. I was here already when we passed by in the spring. See here.

After lunch we drove to the southern end of the island where there is just a bay with some fishing boats. Our first season on Sybaris we anchored here in terrible weather and it was nice to see it again on a much calmer day. See here and here.
We also drove by the wreck which was made famous in the movie Le Grand Bleu or The Big Blue. Much of the movie was filmed on this island. See here.

We returned to the north end of the island and visited Tholaria, a sleepy village just above the bay where we are moored.

We sailed very fast over to Amorgos. The wind was with us so it was a fairly easy trip except we were cold. Wrapped in layers of clothes and even a blanket. Brrr. What happened to summer?
Once in the protected bay of Agio Annas we warmed up.

Mats, Elisabeth and Dennis left early on the 3rd. The wind keeps blowing strong so we are still here. We have tied back to the little jetty with long lines and are totally protected. Out of the wind and in the sun the temperatures are lovely but the wind is cold! We have dug out our blankets and cardigans, brrr!
We have walked around the area quite a bit and even walked into town one day. Luckily the bus stops right here too so we have taken that as well. We now know all the tavernas in the neighbourhood and have been happy using their wifi connections to surf the net. Tomorrow the wind will be less so we sail away from this little spot in paradise.

Mid morning wind was expected but it arrived early. We were rocked awake in the middle of the night and decided to move before it became worse. We moved a little north of Mykonos Town to Agio Stefanos and dropped anchor in almost still water. When we woke up a few hours later we got to see what it looks like. Seems like we have found a little paradise!

We went ashore and rented a car. We drove to the small village of Ano Mera where we visited the 6th century Moni Panagias Tourlianis.

After we drove to the old town of Mykonos and walked through the narrow roads.

A thunder storm and heavy rain was expected and so we stayed put. It gave Per time to work on the engine and Elisabeth and I time to window shop. We went ashore in the morning but soon after the storm started and we spent some time sheltered in a café on the square. After the rain died down we walked around some and before long the boys joined us for some lunch. Soon after we returned to Sybaris and sailed to Mykonos where we arrived just before the sun went down. We anchored under the windmills. It seems fairly sheltered…

After breakfast we sailed to the island of Paros. We first stopped for lunch in Ormos Filizi where the boys wanted to do a dive. But the wind picked up more and more and in the end they decided to give it a miss. Instead we continued to Noaussa, a lovely little village a little to the north.
